What some sports poster owners don't know is that an old sports poster can become a collector's item. So don't throw those old sports posters away; preserve them as much as possible. On the other hand, in case you just bought a brand new sports poster, here are some ways that you can do to preserve it. 1. If your poster is made from paper, no matter what type it is, make sure that you keep it dry. Avoid posting your posters on windows or near water sources. We all know that water can certainly do some great damage on a sports poster made from paper. One damage would have to be the print or the picture fading. Once it has faded, it would be hard to repair or the damage can be irreversible. In addition, it can also weaken the paper. 2. Do not place it near stoves, candles or gas lamps. Whatever the material is used to make that particular sports poster, it is still guaranteed flammable. So as much as possible post your posters away from those mentioned. Once your poster gets burned, whether it is a big or small portion, the damage is beyond repair and there is nothing you can do about it. You wouldn't want your authentic and autographed poster of Michael Jordan, Allen Iverson or Kobe Bryant to simply burn down now, would you? 3. Some poster materials are sensitive to direct sunlight. When you keep them exposed directly to it, the print will eventually fade away. When this happens, you might end up with a faded poster of your favorite sports icon. Based on this fact, post your sports posters in areas where there is no direct sunlight; keep it away from windows. 4. When posting your sports posters, use the right type of posting material based on the area where you are going to post it on. For example, if you are going to post it on glass walls, then use those suction cups with hooks. Using adhesives like tapes are highly discouraged simply because this can leave some residue on the glass which can mar its clarity. If you are going to post it on a bare wall, a liquid adhesive is the best posting material to use. So know the area where you are going to post the poster and then decide on the posting material you are going to use. 5. Your sports posters are treasured items of yours, so as much as possible do not touch it with dirty hands or allow children to touch it after they have just eaten. Some poster materials are stain magnets so if you are not careful, you might end up with a poster of Kobe Bryant with cheese stains on his face, which is rather unsightly. 6. If you want some added protection for your sports posters, especially those printed on paper, then you can always cover it with a clear plastic. The clear plastic can keep dust, food stains and water away from your beloved sports poster. |
