Posters are basically enlarged photos or graphic designs that one could purchase or get from magazines and other sources. These are usually made from some kind of paper that could either be glossy or in any other finish as they see fit. The problem about posters is that these damage easily especially since these are rather fragile things. What happens when a poster gets damaged? For starters, posters usually lose their value once these get damaged and on a non-financial note, it just wouldn't look as pretty as it would have if it were not damaged. The good news is that posters don't get damaged by themselves; it is usually caused by the mishandling of them by none other than people. To avoid getting your posters damaged, here are a couple things that you could do to try and avoid such a thing. 1. Make sure it does not come into contact with water. Posters are not exactly waterproof, and the medium that these are printed on certainly are not as well. It would only take so short of a time before posters would succumb to water damage. Think of it as a book that would be drenched by water; the text in the book would be unrecognizable if nothing is done to stop the extent of the damage. Your poster might not have some finely printed text, but it will definitely get damaged as well from water. The paper that it is printed on could wrinkle up, and also possibly absorb some of the water that it has come into contact with leaving what is printed on it badly damaged. 2. Animals and valuable posters do not really mix. Okay, so maybe it does not have to be a poster that is worth a thousand dollars; it could be any poster – any poster at all. Do not let it be within reach by your pet animals like cats or dogs, because they might possibly damage your poster leaving it with no value whatsoever. Think about it; dogs and cats like to gnaw on things, especially when you have got a pet on your hands that is free-spirited and quite the curious little animal as well. So make sure to keep it somewhere safe that your pets could not get their cute little paws on. If it is not framed, then keep it somewhere like in your bedroom or some container where it would be safe. 3. Children too, for that matter – they might not know how valuable it may be. We all know how playful and curious children are. And more often than not, they might not realize that what they are playing with is actually quite valuable. You can't really blame them; they are not as knowledgeable as you might be on that matter and you might not have informed them as well as to the enormity of that specific poster's value. So as a precaution more than anything, make sure that it is out of reach of children – to be on the safe side. |
